Campers in each session week at Diablo Day Camp are divided into Units based on camper's age and/or grade in school.  Each Unit has it's own separate camp area.  There are usually 20-25 campers in a Unit.  At Twin Canyon, the Brownie Units are (in age order from youngest to oldest) Ant, Butterfly, Beetle and Cricket.  The Junior Units are Maple, Buckeye and Bay.  The Cadette Unit is either Oak or Toyon depending on demand.

The Tag Unit is for 3 to 5 year old, potty trained, children of Adult Volunteers.  The Boy Unit is for sons of Adult Volunteers currently enrolled in K through 5th grade as of March 1, 2009.

Each Unit has its own colors.  T-Shirts, hats and scarves are used to display a unit's colors.  Each Unit has their own banner which displays the Unit's colors, Unit Name and the camper's names.  Units display their banner when they travel to different areas in camp.

The banner is especially important on the first day of camp.  The Unit Leaders will display the banner in the assembly area on the first morning so that campers on the first day will be able to find their unit.

Adult volunteers are not placed in the same unit as their camper daughter(s).
