All registration forms received by March 1, 2009 or postdated by March 1, 2009
are eligible for the Diablo Day Camp lottery. The registrar will wait a few days after the deadline date
to receive registration forms in the mail that are postdated March 1, 2009.
All registration forms are opened when received by the
registrar and sorted into three separate lottery boxes; a staff lottery box, a
new
elf lottery box and a camper lottery box. All registration forms in the
same envelope are stapled together.
It is the policy of Diablo Day Camp to allow a camper to
bring one special friend with them to camp. Each sister may include
one friend. We do not accept troops applying as a group.
Envelopes containing several unrelated campers (troops) will be returned.
Staff Lottery:
 | The staff lottery is performed first. If an Adult
Volunteer is chosen from the staff lottery box; all their camper children,
tags, sons and "special friends" are placed with them into one of their session choices.
Staff are not guaranteed their first session choice. |
 | If the Adult Volunteer's camper would like to go to camp
with a "special friend", the special friend's separate registration form must
be in the same envelope. The camper and special friend can then be placed
together in the same session. |
 | The session Director will decide what unit the campers
are placed into. Generally, units are grouped based on the grade the
campers will be going into in the fall. If the camper
would also like to be placed into the same unit with their special friend,
their registration forms must indicate each other's names on the line that
reads "If possible, place in same group as friend". Campers
that are more than one grade apart can not be placed in the same unit. |
 | Staff are drawn from the lottery box until all the
session staff requirements are fulfilled. Each year, staff are turned
away as there are more volunteers than there are positions to fill.
After the staff lottery is complete, the camper lottery begins. |
Camper Lottery:
 | If the camper would like to go to camp
with a "special friend", the special friend's separate registration form must
be in the same envelope. The camper and special friend can then be placed
together in the same session. |

are placed into. Generally, units are grouped based on the grade the

their registration forms must indicate each other's names on the line that

 | Envelopes are drawn from the lottery box and all campers
in the same envelope are placed together into their first choice session.
As sessions become full, they are closed. After a session is closed, a
camper drawn from the lottery box requesting this session will be diverted to
their second choice session. It is imperative is indicate more than two
session choices. Each year, campers are turned away because they are
drawn from the lottery box and their one and only session choice is full. |
 | After all sessions are full, campers are drawn from the
lottery box and put on their first choice session waiting list.
|
Elf Lottery:
 | Each year Diablo Day Camp will accept 60 new elves in
the Elf Program. New elves that come with staff are guaranteed acceptance
into the program. After new staff elves are counted, the remaining new
elf positions are filled from the Elf lottery box. Elves are drawn from
the box until the remaining 60 positions are full. |
If you feel these procedures were not followed, please contact the

It is our goal to make this procedure as fair and equitable as possible.
